launch phase: until Jan 3, 2027, maxi.domains sells only its own (house) domains. PixelMint LLC is the seller, you pay our own wallet directly, and no multisig payment is involved. third-party listings, seller accounts and the 2-of-3 multisig settlement open on Jan 3, 2027; the parts of this page about them apply only from that date.

plain answers about buying and selling on maxi.domains. the binding rules are in the terms, payment protection terms and refund policy. if this page and those ever disagree, those win. step-by-step wallet guides are on how it works.

buyers

do i need an account?

yes, to buy, make offers or set price alerts. an account needs only an email address and a password. browsing needs no account.

how does buying work?
  • our own domains are a direct sale: click buy, pay the exact amount to the address shown, give your registrar account, and we push the domain to you.
  • every other domain is sold through a 2-of-3 multisig settlement:
  • - click start multisig settlement and paste your multisig public key (not your seed!). - sign a practice transaction once, to show your wallet can sign. it can never be sent. - import the order's wallet file into your wallet and type the last 6 characters of its first address. only then do you see the payment details. - send exactly the amount shown. after 6 confirmations, give your account at the domain's registrar. - the seller pushes the domain. once it's in your account, you sign the release in your wallet and upload it. we co-sign, and the sale is done.

your order page shows every step and refreshes itself, and we email you when something needs you.

why bitcoin only?

it's a bitcoin domain market. bitcoin settles final without a bank or card network, which is what makes a multisig payment like ours possible. no altcoins, no stablecoins, no cards.

how does the multisig payment work? can you run off with my coins?

no. each order gets its own address made from three public keys: yours, the seller's and ours. any two must sign to move the money. we only co-sign: we add our signature to a transaction that you or the seller also signed. we can never move the funds held in the order's multisig payment address on our own, and our server only has public keys. normally the two signatures are yours and ours, when you confirm you received the domain.

what wallet do i need?

one that does multisig and PSBT files: Sparrow (recommended, alone or with a hardware wallet), Coldcard, Nunchuk, and others. see the wallet guides. you use the same key for every order; your account remembers a tested key, so later orders skip the practice step.

how many confirmations do you wait for?

6. more for large amounts; the order page shows the number. at about ten minutes per block that's roughly an hour, sometimes more. if an unconfirmed payment is dropped or replaced, the order goes back to waiting for payment.

how long does the whole thing take?
  • key steps: you have 120 minutes for your key, the practice signature and the address check. the domain is reserved for you meanwhile.
  • payment: then 120 minutes to pay, or the order expires and the domain becomes available again.
  • push: sellers should push within 3 days of being asked. most pushes take minutes once the seller logs in.
  • release: you sign when the domain is in your account. we aim to co-sign within 2 business days.
what if the seller doesn't push?

your coins stay at your order's multisig payment address, and nobody can move them without two signatures. if the seller hasn't pushed 7 days after being asked, open a dispute on the order page and ask for a refund. don't sign the release if you don't have the domain.

what if i don't sign the release?

please do, once the domain is in your account. if you haven't signed 3 days after the seller reported the push, we check that the domain really arrived in your account (WHOIS/RDAP, registrar records). if it did, the seller and we sign the release instead.

can i get a refund?

yes, in the cases in the refund policy, for example when the seller doesn't push within 7 days, the domain can't be pushed, or you paid after your order expired. for multisig orders you sign the refund and we co-sign it. it pays everything that arrived back to your address, minus the network fee of the refund. once the release is signed and broadcast, the sale is final.

how do disputes work?

open one from your order page and tell us what went wrong (screenshots help). while it's open we don't co-sign anything on that order. we reply within 2 business days and decide all-or-nothing: the whole release to the seller, or the whole refund to you. never a split.

what about bundles?

a bundle is several domains in one order and one payment. it's all-or-nothing: the seller has 14 days from your payment to deliver every domain (we remind them on days 3, 5, 7, 9 and 13). if anything is missing on day 14, you get a full refund and the seller gets nothing.

what if i send the wrong amount?
  • too little: the order page shows exactly how much more to send to the same address.
  • too much: for our own domains we refund the extra. for multisig orders we can't return only the extra: don't sign the release, open a dispute, and we co-sign a refund of the whole payment (minus the network fee) so you can buy again at the right amount.
  • after expiry: that payment is refunded.
what do i need to receive the domain?

an account at the registrar where the domain is registered now (the domain page shows the registrar when the seller gave one). the domain is pushed from the seller's account to yours inside that registrar, so you don't need an auth code or a transfer. once the domain is yours you can move it to another registrar, subject to its rules.

who pays the fees?
  • you pay the price plus whatever network fee your wallet charges to send it, and the network fee of a refund if there is one.
  • the seller pays our 5% fee, out of the sale price. the network fee of the release comes out of our fee.
  • there are no other buyer fees.
buy it now or make an offer?

every domain takes offers.

  • priced domains show a buy it now price. pay that price and the domain is yours, no haggling. you can also send an offer below it on the same page.
  • "make offer" domains have no fixed price yet. use the offer form on their page.

an offer doesn't commit you or us to anything. if a price is agreed, you buy at that price the same way as any other domain.

what do you store about me?
  • your account email (and handle, if you choose one) and a hash of your password
  • your orders, their payments, and the public keys you used
  • the registrar account you give us
  • for offers, your message and IP address (for abuse limits)

server logs keep IP addresses for up to 14 days. the site has no javascript, no analytics and no trackers. bitcoin transactions are public by design. details are in the privacy policy.

sellers

how do i list a domain?
  • make an account, confirm your email, and turn on selling (you accept the seller warranties).
  • fill in /submit: the domain, your price in BTC, its registrar, a payout address (native segwit, bc1q…; taproot bc1p… addresses aren't supported yet) and an optional description.
  • on your seller page, add your multisig public key and sign the practice transaction once.
  • add the DNS TXT record we show you, so we can see you control the domain. we review every listing by hand.
what gets accepted?

names that are clearly about bitcoin. no altcoin names, nothing that leans on someone else's trademark, and the domain must not expire within 30 days. you get an email when it's approved or rejected.

what does it cost?

5% of the sale price, taken in the release. nothing up front, no listing fee, and nothing if it doesn't sell. the network fee of the release comes out of our fee.

how do i get paid?

the release pays 95% of the sale price (exactly 95% of what arrived at the multisig payment address) to your payout address. normally the buyer signs it and we co-sign. if the buyer hasn't signed 3 days after you reported the push, we check the transfer and then you sign and we co-sign. check your payout address carefully: bitcoin payments can't be reversed.

how do i push the domain to the buyer?

once the payment has 6 confirmations and the buyer has given their registrar account, we email you and your seller page shows the account to push to. import the sale's wallet file and check its address (last 6 characters), push the domain at your registrar, then click "I have completed the push". please push within 3 days; after 7 days the buyer can get a refund. while an order for your domain is open, don't sell it anywhere else.

can i change my price or remove my listing?

email [offers@maxi.domains](mailto:offers@maxi.domains) from your account's email address.
